As part of its commitment to enhance mobility safety, the world's leading automotive processor maker, Samsung has announced today that its latest automotive processor – the Exynos Auto V920, has been selected to power Hyundai Motor's next-generation in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems.

The infotainment vehicles which are expected to roll out by 2025 will be backed up by Samsung's Exynos Auto V920 chips to further enhance driver safety as it complies with Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL-B) criteria, detect and control issues in real-time while maintaining the security of the IVI system.

As this marks Samsung's first collaboration on automotive semiconductors with Hyundai Motor, Jae Geol Pyee, Samsung's Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, System LSI Business said that the company will continue to create state-of-the-art automotive chip solutions.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Hyundai Motor, a prominent global mobility manufacturer, and we anticipate that this partnership will further solidify our position in the automotive infotainment space," said Jae Geol Pyee. "Through close collaboration with our global customers and ecosystem partners, we will continue to create state-of-the-art automotive chip solutions that offer a safe and enjoyable mobility experience."

The Exynos Auto V920 is Samsung's third-generation automotive processor for advanced IVI systems. The V920 will provide the best in-car experience by enabling real-time display of crucial driving information, as well as the smooth playing of graphics-rich video material and games on numerous monitors, thanks to significant improvements in CPU, graphics, and neural processing capabilities.

Meanwhile, the V920 CPU offers 1.7 times more processing power than the previous generation thanks to its 10 new Arm cores designed for autonomous driving. The V920 can effectively manage up to six high-resolution screens for the dashboard, infotainment, and rear seat entertainment systems, as well as up to 12 camera sensors that gather important visual data thanks to support for LPDDR5 memory's cutting-edge performance.

The processor's graphics and artificial intelligence (AI) performance have seen significant advancements, boosting visual presentation on screens and enhancing driver interaction with in-car information. The Exynos Auto V920 chip incorporates cutting-edge GPU cores with graphics processing capabilities up to two times faster than those of its predecessor to offer a sophisticated graphical user interface (GUI).

Additionally, the neural processing unit (NPU) outperforms the previous generation by 2.7 times thanks to the incorporation of the newest computer cores. This makes it possible for the V920 to enable improved driver monitoring features that can more accurately identify the driver's state and quickly assess the surroundings, resulting in a driving environment that is even safer.
