Gatanisis Shrine completion guide Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Several of the shrines in Tears of the Kingdom feature physics-based puzzles that are also reliant on a bit of trial and error to figure out. This is the case with Gatanisis shrine, which requires both timing and an understanding of the game's physics. Though the solution isn't obvious at first, it is a simple one to implement.

This guide will show you how to complete Gatanisis shrine.

Perhaps the hardest part of solving the shrine comes with finding it. It is tucked away in a hard-to-spot mountainous area, and unless you’re doing some serious exploration, it's easy to miss entirely. It can be found on the cliffs of Ukuku Plains, in a spot facing Knuckel Island.

The precise coordinates are: 4498, 0824, 0095. The easiest way to get there is by taking a short walk from Rasitakiwak shrine, which is the one near Link's house beside Tarry Town.

The puzzle is a short one. It features a chute that ejects large metal balls that roll onto a platform attached to a spring. The weight of the ball causes the platform to bounce. At the far end of the platform, there is an amber-lit target sign suspended above it, and on top of the target, there is a treasure chest. Using experience from past shrines, it is easy to infer that the aim is to get the ball to hit the target.

The easiest solution involves the use of Recall. Wait for the ball to hit the platform. When it is about halfway along the platform (around where the spring's coil is), activate Recall and use it on the platform, making replay its bouncy motions. If timed correctly, the ball will shoot up and strike the target.

To grab the treasure chest, simply have Link stand on the platform, wait for a metal ball to hit the platform, then use Recall on the platform to launch him up. Glide to the treasure chest to retrieve five Bomb Flowers. From there, it is possible to glide to the finish line where the shrine's terminal is.

With a little timing and practice, the Gatanisis shrine can be solved pretty quickly. It also provides an easy way to get Bomb Flowers, which are very useful in overwhelming combat situations because they have a large area of effect when they are fused to arrows. Bomb Flowers can also be used to break rocks in caves and mine for precious stones in the Depths.
