Ford Recalls Bronco And Ranger For Missing Nuts | AutoGuide.com

Ford is recalling 2,416 units of the 2024-2025 Bronco and 2024 Ranger models due to a potential issue with the upper control arm's ball joint.

The recall is related to concerns that the nut securing the ball joint may either be missing or improperly tightened, which could lead to the upper control arm detaching and result in a loss of steering control.

The issue was first flagged in August 2024 after a warranty report highlighted a case where the upper control arm ball joint detached on a 2024 Ranger with only 291 miles on the odometer.

Following this, Ford issued a Stop Ship order for the affected vehicles produced at the Michigan Assembly Plant. Further investigation revealed that the nut securing the upper control arm to the ball joint in the knuckle had not been properly installed on certain vehicles, which may have been exacerbated by equipment failures at the plant.

While Ford has received four warranty reports related to this issue, no accidents or injuries have been reported. Affected vehicles will be inspected by dealers, and if a loose or missing nut is detected, the entire ball joint and knuckle assembly will be replaced free of charge.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified via mail starting October 28, and dealers have been instructed to withhold vehicle deliveries until the issue is resolved.
